Miami Beach Development with City of Miami Behind

Miami, Florida, has been identified as the coastal city most vulnerable to ocean rise. It is only slightly above sea level, the first city in the line of Caribbean hurricanes, with much of it built on landfilled wetlands which are subsiding.
The geological formation beneath it is porous limestone, which allows the seawater to percolate up into the sewers, and rampant development with no thought to ocean rise preparedness has been permitted for years. Add to that a tendency for local governments to deny climate change, and any effort for preparation, thus the result is impending disaster.
