The Song Of The Earth
Das Lied von der Erde is a seminal piece of music by composer Gustav Mahler, about the “eternal beauty” of the earth versus the fleeting mortality of human life, written as the winds of conflict and anti-semitism were sweeping Europe. The staggering beauty of the piece, and the contemporary relevance to the lyrics and meanings compelled me to create a multi-media visual component to project with the orchestral performance.
As its post-covid inauguration this year, the prestigous Ludwigsburg Festival performed my piece and broadcast it live on ARTE Television.
