Doors To The Future
Venice, Italy
Doors built to close the Venetian Lagoon against storm surge, prior to installation. Rising sea levels and additional storm strength due to the Climate Crisis will exacerbate the traditional flooding problems of Venice. Project Mose was designed to close the three channels into the Venetian lagoon against these threats. The construction was 10 years late with the final cost was about €7 Billion. These are the doors which are now at the bottom of the three channels into The Venetian Lagoon. To close the passages and protect Venice, they are filled with air, forcing them to swing up into a vertical position.
